You Don’t Have to Stay in the City Centre for Manchester Punk Festival
Are you coming to MPF2026 and worried about hotel prices in the city centre? Good news: you don’t have to stay bang in the middle of town to have a brilliant weekend. There are loads of affordable places to stay just outside the centre, with quick, easy transport links that’ll still get you to the venues fast.
With 120+ bands across 7 venues in 1 city, you’ll probably only be heading back to your accommodation to crash so saving money on where you sleep means more cash for bands, merch, food, and beers.
Here are some of the best nearby areas to stay, all offering great value and simple transport into central Manchester:
Stockport
Approx £15 taxi / ~£70 a night
Stockport is a brilliant option with frequent trains into Manchester and loads of budget hotels. It’s slightly further out, but still super manageable and easy to get home after a late one.
Salford
Approx £5 taxi / ~£65 a night
Just next door to the city centre, Salford offers some of the cheapest accommodation around. You’ll barely notice the travel time, and it’s one of the best value spots overall.
Openshaw
Approx £5 taxi / ~£81 a night
A short ride east of the centre, Openshaw is well connected by bus and tram, making it a solid choice if you want convenience without city-centre prices.
Stretford
Approx £10 taxi / ~£90 a night
With excellent tram and train links, Stretford is another easy win — quick journeys, good availability, and decent-value hotels.

Getting Around is Cheap and Easy
Manchester’s public transport makes moving around the city simple. The Bee Bus single ‘hopper’ ticket costs just £2 for adults, meaning you can hop between venues and areas without blowing your budget. Trains are also frequent, with late-night services running for many destinations across Greater Manchester.
